“I don’t expect you to understand. But I don’t blame you.”In a work-in-progress autobiographical performance artwork, I attempt to tackle my relationship with my mum in my teenage years. This piece is honest whilst using Greek mythology to explain the effects of teenage rebellion, rape and family relationships.
I use attractive aesthetics to talk about something dark and hard – hitting. This piece uses metaphors and imagery to deal with the quite serious reality of rape and the effect it has on a victims life. This piece is currently at a ‘scratch performance’ length of 15 minutes, but I do intend for this piece to be developed as a workshop with a Q&A session. |
